My first assessment at AIE was a still-life that had to involve three related objects. I went for an alembic still (VERY much a prop showpiece, not a practically-useable one, but it had the best balance of modeling complexity), a mortar and pestle, and a rack with vials. I worked on the still first, hand-painting the textures in photoshop without any roughness or metallic maps. Then I worked on the rack and mortar in Substance Painter, and the still was suddenly VERY out of place. So I built roughness/metallic maps for it in Photoshop, and tweaked everything until it looked like it all belonged in the same universe.
