Sculpted, lit and rendered an akoda-nari kabuto for an AIE project. After turning it in, I decided to keep playing with it, building a sort of cyberpunk brutalist museum scene around it and messing with materials and alternate lighting.
The final result, filled with neon, glass, and good ol' cyberpunk cityscape (a plate of the Shanghai skyline, to be exact). This was done on my own time after the project was turned in, since I wanted to play with more glow and transparency.
The final as it was turned in for the school project. A Kabuto composited with Nuke into an HDRI from Ueno Shrine.
Some of the normal-map details I built, contrast tweaked for emphasis.
The modeling on the helmet was 90% deformers, stacked on top of one another to get the geometry smooth and accurate. The lacing ended up being most of the polycount, since it's fully modeled, using curve warp.
